Download and Install Feluda

Download and Install Feluda

Feluda is available as a desktop application for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

This guide will help you:

  • check whether your computer is supported;
  • choose the correct download;
  • install or open Feluda;
  • respond to common security notices; and
  • confirm that the application starts correctly.

After Feluda opens, continue with the Getting Started guide to connect an AI model and complete your first conversation.

Before you download

Check that your computer meets the basic requirements for your operating system.

Platform Supported versions Available downloads
Windows Windows 10 version 1809 or later, including Windows 11 Installer or portable application
macOS macOS 10.15 Catalina or later Apple Silicon, Intel, or universal
Linux A modern desktop distribution with the required desktop libraries AppImage, Debian package, RPM package, or standalone application

Feluda requires at least 4 GB of memory. A computer with 8 GB or more is recommended, especially when you plan to use local AI models.

Using Feluda with a cloud AI provider requires an internet connection. Work that uses a compatible local AI model can be performed without an internet connection after the required software and model have been downloaded.

Download Feluda

Visit the official Feluda download page.

Select your operating system, then choose the download that matches your computer.

Always download Feluda from the official Feluda website. This helps ensure that you receive the current version intended for your platform.

Install Feluda on Windows

Windows users can choose between the installer and the portable application.

Use the Windows installer

The installer is the recommended choice for most users.

  1. Download the latest Windows installer.
  2. Open the downloaded file.
  3. Follow the instructions shown by the setup wizard.
  4. When installation is complete, open Feluda from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.

The installer also adds a required Windows component when it is not already available.

Use the portable application

Choose the portable version when you prefer to run Feluda without a normal installation.

  1. Download the portable Windows application.
  2. Move it to a folder where you want to keep it.
  3. Open the file to start Feluda.

Keep the portable file in a stable location. Moving or deleting it later will remove the application file, although your Feluda work is stored separately.

If Windows shows a security notice

Windows may display a SmartScreen notice when you open a newly downloaded application.

Confirm that the file came from the official Feluda website. Then select More info and Run anyway when you are satisfied that you downloaded the correct file.

If your organisation manages your computer, its security policy may prevent you from continuing. In that case, contact the person or team responsible for your device.

Install Feluda on macOS

Feluda offers three types of macOS download.

Download Choose it when
Apple Silicon Your Mac uses an Apple M-series processor
Intel Your Mac uses an Intel processor
Universal You are unsure which processor your Mac has, or you want one version that supports both

To check your Mac, open the Apple menu and select About This Mac. Look for either Chip or Processor.

After choosing the correct version:

  1. Download Feluda for macOS.
  2. Place the application in a folder where you want to keep it.
  3. Open Feluda.
  4. Follow any macOS instructions shown during the first launch.

If macOS blocks the first launch

macOS may show a notice because Feluda is downloaded outside the Mac App Store.

Confirm that you downloaded it from the official Feluda website. Then open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, and review the message about the blocked application.

Choose the option to open Feluda only when the application name and download source are correct.

The dedicated macOS installation guide includes additional help when the application cannot be opened normally.

Install Feluda on Linux

Feluda is available in several Linux formats.

Format Best suited for
AppImage A simple download that can run on many distributions
Debian package Ubuntu, Debian, and related distributions
RPM package Fedora, Red Hat-based, and some other distributions
Standalone application Users who prefer to choose the application location themselves

Choose the format that matches your Linux distribution. When you are unsure, the AppImage is usually the simplest place to start.

Your Linux system needs GTK 3 and WebKitGTK 4.1. Many modern desktop distributions already include these. The dedicated Linux installation guide explains what to do when either requirement is missing.

After downloading Feluda:

  1. Open the file using the normal method for your chosen package type.
  2. Approve the installation when your system asks.
  3. Open Feluda from your application menu.

An AppImage or standalone application may need permission to run before it can be opened. Follow the steps in the Linux installation guide for your selected format.

Open Feluda for the first time

When Feluda opens successfully, you will see the Dashboard.

The Dashboard gives you access to Workbench, Studio, RunFlows, AI Providers, and the other main areas of Feluda.

At this point, the application is installed. You do not need to configure every feature immediately.

Your next steps are:

  1. open AI Providers;
  2. connect one supported cloud or local AI model;
  3. open Workbench; and
  4. send a short test message.

The Getting Started guide explains this first-session process.

If Feluda does not open

Begin with these checks:

  • confirm that you downloaded the version for the correct operating system and processor;
  • make sure the download completed before opening the file;
  • close any older copy of Feluda that may still be running;
  • restart your computer and try again;
  • check whether your organisation restricts installing applications; and
  • review the dedicated installation guide for your operating system.

On Windows, a blank window may mean that the required Windows display component needs to be installed or updated.

On macOS, review the Privacy & Security section if the first launch was blocked.

On Linux, confirm that the required desktop libraries are available and that the downloaded file has permission to run.

Updating Feluda later

When a new Feluda version is available, download the latest version from the official download page.

Close Feluda before starting the update. Then follow the update method for the format you originally installed.

Your workflows, Journal entries, Genes, settings, and other personal work are stored separately from the application itself, so a normal update does not replace them.

Use the dedicated update guide for complete instructions for your operating system and package type.

Continue with Getting Started

Installation is complete when Feluda opens and shows the Dashboard.

Continue with Getting Started with Feluda to connect your first AI provider, choose a model, and send your first message in Workbench.
